Your Grade Report

You will receive your grade report via e-mail at least once per week.

Class Participation:

Each day you will be making use of the 'clickers' installed in PS 101. Each day you may earn up to 24 points/day for Class Participation. A couple of these will be dropped near the end of the semester covering a couple of absences you may have had. Using someone elses clicker is cheating!

If you do not participate in the class in every way, you will be dropped. I do not accept students who want to AUDIT the course.

SLO (Student Learning Objectives)
The SLO section will be scored as follows:
None of the Three will be dropped.
If you earn less than 50% you get a 30
If you earn over 50% you get the full 60 points.

Quizzes/Homework/Discussions: Quizzes and homework assignments are always 60 points each. After going over a quiz or homework sheet, make sure the point assignment is correct. If not, e-mail me.

Reasons you may be dropped from the class: * NOT attending, NOT doing the assignments, Cheating.

Explanation of what you will see on your gradesheet.

Just some general info regarding the gradesheet.

Letter L in your grade means either you submitted material late (whether it was minutes or days).

Letter E means excused. This grade will not count against you. This is NOT used very often.

Letter D means that grade was dropped. Several of your grades will be dropped.

Other Grading Codes used on your gradesheet.

1 = You copied from the Web

2 = You copied from another person

3 = You answered but PAST the time deadline.

4 = You answered but your answer was wrong

5 = silly response

You will be receiving a gradesheet weekly (sometimes more often) by way of your Pipeline e-mail.

Regarding your extra credit 'grade'

My grading system does 'grade' all assignments including giving you a 'grade' for extra credit!!! However, what you cannot 'see' is the fact that the program has been told to count the Extra Credit category as ONLY extra credit. If you add all up all the possible points, you will see that NONE of the extra credit points are there! It only counts FOR you and not against you! Bottom line: forget the Extra Credit GRADE every point you have in that category adds to your overall points!

Most extra credit events have 3 columns. One for the evaluation, one for the sign in, and the third is the remainder of the points awarded for actually doing the evaluation AND the sign in. You will lose one point per day for not completing any part.

You will most likely have an 'F' in extra credit BUT remember to look at the POINTS. The points are important - not the letter grade. The 'F' happens because some students in the class completed an extra credit opportunity and have received their points.

Grading:

Checkpoints are many points each = 175 points
Points for these will drop after the deadline at 5 points per day until zero is reached.
You may be dropped at that point for non-participation in the class.
