General Information

QUIZZES/DISCUSSIONS: These 60 point, short quizzes/discussions will cover material which is not covered in class, material that is rather difficult and needs some additional explanation or future material. The lowest 2 grades for quizzes/discussions will be dropped. The quizzes will be at your web site, usually on a weekly basis. Some will be sent in via the internet while others will be brought to your astronomy class. These will not be accepted late.

EXAMS: These exams cover all the material from the last exam. There are 100 multiple choice questions worth 2 points each.

HOW TO MAKE UP A QUIZ OR AN EXAM For 101S

LIMITS FOR EXAMS:
* NUMBER - Only one exam missed due to an absence may be done as a make-up.
* TIME LIMIT - You will have two weekdays (beginning the day you return) to make up any work.
* PENALTIES: Exams/quizzes taken after the 2 day limit will lose 10%/day.

EXAMS - You should come as close to 7 AM as you can to make up the exam you missed following your absence.

You may make up the exam as late as the day after the day you return. Example: You miss an exam on Monday. You return on Tuesday. You may make up the exam on Tuesday, but must make it up by Wednesday!

A 10% per day penalty for waiting longer.

Each exam taken after the limit of one begins with a minus 10%/day penalty.
