Exceptions to the Finals Schedule

The following are examples of student requests for exceptions to the finals schedule and the actions that will be taken by the Office of the Dean, Educational Programs to which such requests may be directed.

1. Three finals on the same day: Per college policy, students who are scheduled for three finals on the same day may petition the Office of the Executive Vice-President, Educational Programs Room A-113, for an adjustment of their finals schedule. The student will be provided an authorization letter for an adjustment and will be asked to confer with their faculty for an adjustment of one of the finals. In those cases where one of the faculty members is not able or willing to adjust, the Dean will intervene to make arrangements for an adjustment.

2. Request for early final due to travel or vacation arrangements: Such requests will not be approved, advocated or supported.

3. Request for adjustment due to verified illness and/or immediate family emergency:

At the student's request, the Dean of Educational Programs, will notify the student's instructor and request their consideration of the request. If an adjustment to the finals schedule cannot be accommodated then the student may contact the instructor and request an Incomplete Contract. An incomplete may be awarded to the student who, in the judgment of the instructor has not completed or cannot complete a course in the specified time for a verified, unforeseeable emergency, but who has the probability of doing so before the end of the following semester. An incomplete contract, signed by the student and faculty member, must accompany the faculty member's final grades.
